How Victoria’s Secret Angel Martha Hunt Fights the Urge to Skip Her Workout

No matter how much discipline you practice, just the thought of heading to the gym is sometimes enough to make you shut off the alarm and roll back into bed. But when you’re a Victoria’s Secret Angel, the stakes are too high to wait until tomorrow to begin sweating it out.

For Martha Hunt, preparing for the 2016 #VSFashionShow is a job in and of itself. “I’ve been working out non-stop at DogPound,” she told InStyle of her go-to boxing gym in New York City. “Those guys, they’re really nice. They’re so positive, which is something that’s really special to say about a trainer because that positive energy really makes a difference. It really makes you want to keep coming back.”

Positive vibes aside, Hunt keeps her eye on the prize when punching it out feels like a drag. “I just think about the runway,” she said, adding, “I have to think about everyone seeing me in my lingerie. That’s really good motivation.”

Don’t think those barely-there, wing-clad ensembles are the only thing that keep her going. “The first few minutes of a workout are the hardest, and then afterwards the endorphins kick in and you get this new boost of energy and it’s all worth it. We all have so much built up stress, so it’s so good to work out,” she noted. Valid point.

As for what she’ll think about once she’s actually on the runway, in front of the camera, it’s not, “don’t fall!” “I’m really trying to enjoy the moment because if you over-think it, I feel like you can see it on your face,” she told us. “You’re just trying to live in the moment. It’s not even really about thinking. I think it’s just about enjoying the moment.”

Inside the Victoria's Secret Models' Pre-Show Workouts

We went backstage at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in Paris to catch up with some of our favorite VS models, who dished on everything from the weirdest item they packed, to their insane, high-intensity, pre-show workout routines. After all, when preparing for a show where you show a lot of skin, you want to make sure what you're showing is in tip-top shape.

Alessandra Ambrosio is walking in her 16th show this year, and is clearly a pro at getting prepared for the big day. "I do a lot of yoga through the year but a friend of mine told me to try Tracy Anderson and I went to the studio and I fell in love with it because it's all about music," she revealed. "I love music and it was all about dancing and I felt like a teenager dancing ... it brings me back to my clubbing days and you get to listen to music and sweat and be healthy." While the workout may sound fun, Ambrosio told us not to underestimate its intensity: "Its so hard, its on another level. It’s definitely the hardest workout I’ve ever done in my life."

Inspired by young love, Vera Wang Bridal’s fall 2017 collection presents romantic shapes with edge. From slim and sleek silhouettes to dramatic ballgowns, the Vera Wang bride has quite a number of options. The new season focuses on traditional touches such as corsets and draped fabrics. To contrast the button-up accents are sheer layers of macrame lace and tulle. Necklines variate from off-the-shoulder styles to plunging v-necks. Sleeves are overly long on many dresses for dramatic effect. Compared to past bridal seasons, Wang took a more traditional route with a white and ivory color palette.
