Tiffany & Co. HardWear Collection

Jewelry & Watches

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you’d have probably seen Lady Gaga’s stellar Super Bowl performance, and caught the 60-second clip showcasing Tiffany’s latest modern rebel (just watch the YouTube video above), the one and only Lady Gaga for HardWear.

Let’s not just talk about Tiffany’s HardWear, let’s swoon. The very embodiment of strength and soul of the modern lady, three words come to mind when describing the collection. Attitude. Unisex. Extensive.

Attitude. Each piece exudes a vibe that’s chic yet raw all at once, a rebellious attitude present in the pieces from this collection. Embodying the power and spirit of New York City with the juxtaposition of high fashion and streetwear, it was if the urban soul of the city was channelled into HardWear during the design phase and those vibes shine through effortlessly in all the jewellery pieces.

Unisex. Inspired by a 1971-released ball and chain bracelet that appealed to both sexes way back then, the HardWear pieces are elegant but with a twist. Depending on which of the pieces you like the most, there are pieces for women, pieces for men and of course, pieces that both sexes can wear interchangeably. Bracelets come in varying sizes, so most anyone can have a go at them, or just take a necklace, wrap it twice around your wrist and you’ve got the coolest double tour bracelet yet. Personalisation is also big with the HardWear collection, with selected pieces available for say, engraving of your loved ones’ initials, to make it even more special.

Extensive. The collection is pretty extensive, even exhaustive, with pieces available in sterling silver all the way to bold 18k gold. A highlight piece is the chain necklace that features graduated links and a fuss free clasp that keeps the whole look together. Other pieces include everything from earrings to rings, and whether you’re naughty or nice, you’ll have no problems finding pieces that will speak to your personality the most.

Prices start from SGD255 for the Bead Ring in sterling silver right up to SGD18,800 for the chunky 18k gold Chain Wrap necklace, with the entire collection to be released in Tiffany & Co. boutiques on 28 April 2017. Most importantly though, keep an eye out for them on my social media platforms on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, where I will share first glimpses, Bagaholicboy-style, on what’s to come!

Dauphines of New York Birthday Headbands: Party Favors

Jewelry & Watches

Dauphines of New York Birthday Headbands

Dauphines of New York always puts out gorgeous, well-priced hair accessories, but when they add the element of personalization, the appeal is even greater. Believe it or not, birthstones have been around since the first century! Mine is good old amethyst, which is faceted beautifully onto the February headband. For a boho look, wear yours over your hair like a headpiece, or go subtler and place it underneath your locks. The elastic backing ensures comfort either way. Snobs born in April might notice theirs is not made with diamonds – that would be a pricey piece! Dauphines used silver pyrite as an alternate, and while the look doesn’t sparkle quite as bright, it’s a very pretty substitute. These are fun, Frugal jewels, after all!

Harry Winston Hope Collection Bracelet: White Gold Wonder

Jewelry & Watches

Harry Winston Hope Collection Bracelet

It’s wonderful to see brands and designers donate any of their sales to charity, but it’s a rare sight to see one donate 100% of the sales. Yet that’s exactly what Harry Winston is doing with the Hope collection bracelet, a delicate white gold pendant accented with a mother-of-pearl dial and a single signature diamond. Each bracelet is a sign of support (and great taste) with the sales being divided between eight nonprofits across the country, from NYC’s Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center to Dallas’ Heroes for Children (an advocacy group that provides financial and social aid to families fighting cancer). The limited edition of 200 was first released a year ago, so be sure to get yours before they’re gone!

Bochic Diamond Openwork Earrings: Web of the Dreamweaver

Jewelry & Watches

Bochic Diamond Openwork Earrings

Marissa Collections always has the best selection of unique fine jewelry, which is the kind of fine jewelry I tend to seek out. If you’re going to invest big, doesn’t it just make sense for the piece to be one-of-a-kind? Bochic is a go-to brand for these standout jewels, namely because it was inspired by a standout woman. Designers Miriam Salat and David Aaron Joseph decided to join forces after meeting an incredibly stylish woman on a ferry during their trip to Italy. Her fiery spirit perfectly encapsulated what would come to be known as the “Bochic woman” – a decadent lady (there are nearly seven and a half carats of diamonds here!), but also one with taste. These 18K white and yellow gold earrings are as spectacularly original as they are mesmerizing. The openwork reminds you of webs, tree branches…anything you make of it. They would be the perfect accents to upswept hair on a special night out – or just any night when you feel like attracting attention!

Shopping Around the World: The Search for Gold

Jewelry & Watches

Shopping Around the WorldLondon designers (clockwise from top left): Francesca Grima, Shaun Leane, Solange Azagury-Partridge, Francesa Grima

You can buy travel guides if you want to sightsee, but when it comes to shopping, you’re generally out of luck. New stores and markets crop up too often for a book to stay relevant, which is exactly why LoveGold has curated a website’s worth of guides about all the latest – and also the most established and renowned – places you can shop for real high carat gold jewelry. New YorkLondonParis, the new Copenhagen guide that launched this week…there are ten cities to choose from with even more to come. Shopping is a global pastime for me, as well. Some of my most beloved pieces come from vendors you won’t hear much about, and that’s why I love that these guides let you search for retailers in different categories – must-sees, eclectic, vintage…even wedding (in case you or your partner feel inspired by a romantic trip and want to take a big leap!).

Forget kitschy souvenirs. When you go on vacation, pick up a gold jewel from a local designer to commemorate your visit and find some for your family and friends back home. Lesser-known boutiques and independent designers are the most likely to have well-priced pieces that you can afford to buy a few of, not to mention the jewels are often more charming and out-of-the-box than the ones you’ll find in department stores. If you’re going all the way around the world, you might as well return with something you can’t find in your own city!

10 Of The Best Watch-Focussed Instagram Accounts

Jewelry & Watches

They often say Instagram is the window to one’s soul – and while viewing Kim Kardashian’s painfully curated gallery of pouting selfies, I’m inclined to agree.

The world’s favourite social app does have its uses however – chiefly that of high quality watch accounts to satisfy all your horological desires. That Rolex Submariner may be out of financial reach, but there’s nothing to stop you ogling some decent #watchporn.

Here we round up the accounts that should be in any self-respecting watch aficionado’s follow list.

Isaac J. Gold, Wound For Life Writer

It’s not every day you see Jaeger-LeCoultre sat next to N.W.A album art, but Isaac J. Gold (renowned writer for watch magazine Wound for Life) gives us a sneak peek into all his interests.

He also manages to place the industry’s luxury labels within an everyday context; we might not be able to afford a Bell & Ross Limitada, but at least we can see one on the wrist with how to wear visuals.

QueueCumber, Watch Collector

We still haven’t got the foggiest when it comes to the name but QueueCumber knows his stuff when it comes to haute horlogerie.

In a flood of Rolex, Panerai and Omega images, we’re granted a glimpse of luxury timepieces placed within more casual ensembles. There are no flash cars or cringeworthy magnums of champagne here – just pure watch idolatry from a true watch fan.

Hodinkee, Leading Watch Publication

As a team that needs no introduction, Hodinkee are arguably the leading authority in the sector with an Instagram account to match.

An editorial focus gives an easy yet visual experience in which you can sample disassembled movements, story teasers and a constant stream of desirable new products.

The Watch Gallery, British Watch Retailer

As a purveyor of all things fine and Swiss, The Watch Gallery’s Instagram account is a delectable mixture of luxury watches, brand-sponsored events and upcoming pieces from century-old brands.

Primarily gent-focused but with tidbits for the ladies, expect a wealth of horological inspiration.

Russell Kelly, Tudor Brand Manager

Tudor is very much the horological phoenix, rising from the ashes of hiatus to stamp its mark on the industry once more.

Often seen as Rolex’s more casual younger sibling, Russell Kelly is Tudor’s current brand manager and provides us with further insight into the mindset of the company via a range of moodboards and non-professional snippets.

Wristi, Texan Watch Enthusiast

With wrist shots aboard a summer yacht to timepieces at boozy brunches, there’s only one thing we truly know about Wristi: he loves Swiss watches.

This Instagram account has become something of a bougie kaleidoscope, charting every instance in which a timepiece can be present – a stylized watch diary, if you will.

Watches By SJX, Singaporean Watch Collector

Like all areas of luxury fashion, Asia is an important and lucrative market that has its own tastes and preferences.

Watches by SJX samples such inclinations from Singapore and shows us a different side to the horological trade – expect more colour, more detail and a more delicate approach.

Marlon De Simone, Watches In Rome Exec

They say Italians do it better, and Marlon de Simone certainly lives up to the mantra.

Instagramming all the good stuff (fast cars, high-end watches, speedboats and so on) de Simone’s Instagram stream is envy-inducing, and his collection of timepieces is remarkable. Rolex, Patek, IWC – he’s got them all and shares his passion as opposed to boasting.

Bexsonn, Watches And Whiskey

Although the watchmaking and alcohol industries may seem unlikely bed fellows, watch and whiskey brands have been partnering up for decades – and Bexsonn celebrates these partnerships via its dedicated Instagram account.

The only downside being that you’ll definitely want a drink (and probably a Breitling) post-viewing.

Watchfred, Watch Collector

The eponymous Fred is an enigmatic fellow and we know little of his life aside of his love for watches, which suits us just fine.

There’s plenty to learn in terms of classic dress watches and the art of layering, because Watchfred has his sartorial game down to a tee.
